A wedding ceremony at Loft Lucia

Loft Lucia Wedding

A Chicago Wedding Venue That Lives Up to Its Name

Loft Lucia literally translates to “Loft of Light” — and from the moment you walk in, you understand why that name fits.

Located in Chicago’s West Loop at 7 N Carpenter Street, Loft Lucia is a two-level event space with oversized industrial windows, exposed brick, cream wood floors, and a private rooftop terrace with stunning views of the city. It’s the kind of venue that feels elevated and editorial without being cold or stiff.

I’ve photographed full weddings here — ceremony and reception — and it’s a space I genuinely love working in. Here’s what you should know if you’re considering it for your day.

About Loft Lucia

Loft Lucia opened in 2017 in Chicago’s West Loop neighborhood — a part of the city that has become one of the most popular areas for events, dining, and celebrations. The venue is both design-forward and warmly personal, which makes it so unique.

The space has two indoor levels plus a beautiful private outdoor rooftop, giving couples real flexibility in how they plan their day. Whether you want your ceremony outside under the Chicago skyline or inside the warm brick interior, the venue can do both — and do it well.

What the Space Looks Like

The main floor is decorated with exposed brick walls, oversized industrial windows that fill the room with natural light, blonde wood floors, and a bar with a marble-patterned design. It feels warm and modern at the same time — and it photographs beautifully in every direction.

The rooftop terrace is private and sits above the West Loop with panoramic city views. It’s stunning for cocktail hour and equally beautiful as a ceremony backdrop if you want something open-air with a skyline behind you.

What’s included with your rental:

  • Full solid wood furniture package
  • Two indoor bars
  • Bridal suites and day suites
  • On-site venue coordination
  • House sound system, uplights, WiFi
  • Boxwood wall, lanterns, plants
  • Valet parking on-site
  • Fully ADA compliant

From Behind the Lens

I’ve photographed full weddings at Loft Lucia — ceremony and reception — and it gave me a really complete picture of what the space can do.

The ceremony in the main space was intimate and light-filled. The oversized windows do a lot of the work for you. The light is soft and even, which means the ceremony photos feel calm and genuine rather than artificially lit. Nothing distracts from the couple.

The reception had a completely different energy — warm, celebratory, and lots of contrast. The brick walls, the ambient lighting, the texture of the space — it all builds into something that photographs with a lot of depth. It never feels like a blank white box. There’s character in every direction.

The rooftop is where things are really unique and special. The city views give you a backdrop that is unmistakably Chicago, and the decor keeps it from feeling like a rooftop parking deck. It’s a genuinely beautiful setting for couple portraits, especially during golden hour.

Is Loft Lucia the Right Venue for You?

Loft Lucia is a great fit if you want a city wedding that feels designed and intentional — not generic ballroom, not overly rustic, but something that looks as distinctly as Chicago and is distinctly modern.

It’s especially right for couples who love the idea of both an indoor and outdoor experience on the same day. The flow between the main floor and the rooftop is organized and seamless, and having both options means your day can shift with the mood without skipping a beat.

It’s a smaller venue — seated capacity holds about 140 indoors — so it’s best fit for more intimate celebrations. If your guest list is over 150, the space may feel crowded. But for the couple who wants a close, warmly designed celebration with a striking backdrop, it’s hard to beat.

Tips for Planning Your Loft Lucia Wedding

  • Book early. The West Loop wedding market moves quickly, and Loft Lucia is consistently one of the most requested spaces in the area.
  • Build in rooftop time. Whether it’s your ceremony, cocktail hour, or couple portraits, don’t let the event run long enough that you lose the golden light up there.
  • Let the space be the decor. The brick, the windows, and the warmth of the room do a lot on their own. You don’t need to over-style it to make it beautiful.

Getting Married at Loft Lucia?

If you’re planning a wedding at Loft Lucia, I’d love to be there with you.

I’ve photographed full weddings at this venue — ceremony and reception both — and I know how the light moves through the space, when the rooftop is most beautiful, and how to make sure your gallery captures everything this venue has to offer. I bring a second photographer to every primary collection, so nothing goes undocumented while I’m with you.

Most couples invest between $4,400–$5,200 for a full wedding photography experience with E&L. If you’d like to talk through your day, reach out — I’d love to hear about it.
